QIC Europe Limited (QEL) is the Malta-based European arm of Qatar Insurance Group, established in 2014 and regulated by the Malta Financial Services Authority. It underwrites general insurance risks across the European Economic Area, carries an "A" rating from Standard & Poor's on a parental guarantee from QIC, and operates from St Julian's with a London presence.
QEL's business model shapes everything about how its brand has to work. It doesn't sell to the public. Business reaches it through Managing General Agents, coinsurance partners and intermediaries — a small, expert audience of brokers, underwriters and regulators who assess a carrier on financial strength and credibility, not on marketing.
That inverts the usual brief. There's no need to be memorable to a wide audience; the requirement is to look unmistakably institutional to a narrow one. The design work sat within the QIC Group framework, adapting the parent brand for a European regulated entity — close enough to signal the group's backing and balance sheet, which is QEL's central commercial argument, while carrying the distinct legal identity a separately regulated insurer requires.
We handled art direction and design across the assets in scope, working to the group's existing system rather than creating a competing one.
