Pavé is a specialty coffee shop and patisserie in Al Sadd, Doha, open from morning to midnight and taking cake orders a day ahead.
The name does the heavy lifting before any design exists. A pavé in French patisserie is a slab-shaped cake — but the word literally means a paving stone, and it's also a jewellery term for stones set flush across a surface. That gives the brand a rare thing: a name that is simultaneously precise about the product and visually suggestive. Squares, slabs, tiled surfaces, things set close together.
We built the identity on that geometry. The system leans on square and rectangular forms — echoing both the cake and the paving stone the word comes from — with a restrained palette and typography that let the products supply the colour.
That restraint was deliberate. A specialty coffee and cake brand competes with its own display counter, which is the most colourful, most appetising thing in the room. The identity's job was to frame it, not compete with it. The system runs across the surfaces that matter for a café: cups, boxes, signage, menu boards and the social posts customers make of what they order.
Tell us what you’re building. We’ll come back with a scope and a price.
