An exhibition stand design project for Arts & Gems.
Arts & Gems is a Qatari jewellery company established in 1979 and 100% Qatari-owned since 2009. Each year it takes a pavilion at the Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre — a Qatar Tourism flagship event opened under the patronage of the Prime Minister, drawing more than 500 brands from 32 countries alongside Bvlgari, Alfardan Jewellery and Al Majed Jewellery.
The Arts & Gems pavilion isn't a single stand. It houses a group of partner jewellery houses — names including Kaltham Jewelry, Noor Jewels, Jaipur Gems, Hazoorilal Legacy and Al Hasimi Pearls — under one identity, several of whom have returned year after year.
That made the design problem architectural rather than decorative. Each house needed its own defined display area and its own visibility, while the pavilion as a whole had to read as one coherent environment carrying the Arts & Gems name. Get the balance wrong in one direction and it looks like a market of unrelated booths; wrong in the other and the partners lose the presence they paid for.
The other constraint was the product. High jewellery is small, reflective and viewed at close range, and it is shown to buyers who examine stones under light. Display had to hold attention at browsing distance and then support genuine scrutiny — lighting, sightlines, case placement and circulation all working for two very different modes of looking.
We handled art direction and pavilion design across the environment, designing to a fixed footprint, venue height and services restrictions, and the build and breakdown windows every major exhibition imposes.
Tell us about the show and the space. We’ll come back with a concept and a price.
